Nothing beats a Friday in the summer. The weekend, full of opportunity for fun and the adventure awaits. What better way to pave the path for endless possibility than by getting yourself properly detoxed and ready to party. Not only does this clear your mind and get rid of stressful energy from the week, it rejuvenates your skin, flushes toxins, and helps you look your best for your days off.

Try these steps to prep your body and mind for the weekend ahead.

1. Start your Friday mindfully

Set your alarm thirty minutes early and take the time to get centered. Since you may plan on sleeping in all weekend, this is the chance to revel in the morning light and get in touch with yourself. Use this time to meditate, journal, do sun salutations, or just enjoy a nice slow cup of coffee by yourself or with your partner. It’ll increase your awareness and help you enjoy the last day of the week, instead of trying to hustle through it as quickly as possible.

2. Drink a lemon-turmeric tonic

To alkalize and reduce inflammation from lunches on the go, stressful meetings, and a packed schedule, try this recipe:

1 ½ c. filtered hot water

1/3 c lemon juice

1 tsp turmeric

Dash of cinnamon

1 tbsp. organic honey

This tonic will energize you, make your skin glow, and reduce any lingering tension you may be feeling around your body.

3. Have something healthy to look forward to

Yes, sunset happy hour is so amazing, especially during the summer months. But, ending your week in a healing and rejuvenating way, without plowing into the weekend the second work gets out, will do wonders for your mental and physical health. We tend to weigh the least on Fridays, so before loading up on tapas and sangria, get some activity in after work. Find a sunset yoga class you enjoy, or plan a bike ride or walk with a friend. Doing something calming and restorative will help give your adrenals a break, and will recalibrate your energy for the weekend.
